Kazan - the capital of Tatarstan, one of the largest scientific, economic and cultural centers of Russia. It is cosmopolitan city, an area of about 412 square km, with a population of 1.2 million people, is located on the left bank of the Volga River. In 2005, Kazan celebrated its millennium. Kazan with its impressive Kremlin, mosques, churches and museums included in the list of World Heritage Cities, awarded diplomas and a medal of UNESCO. It is a city of theaters, museums, city of music, rich libraries, newest technologies and high scientific potential.

 

 

 

 

History of the University of Kazan, one of the oldest Russian universities, founded in 1804, is rich in names of great scientists, educators, teachers, and government officials. Kazan University gave to the world such luminaries of science as the founder of non-Euclidean geometry, Nikolai Lobachevsky, the founders of the Kazan chemical school - Karl Klaus opened ruthenium, and Alexander Butlerov, who created the theory of chemical structure of organic compounds, Eugene Zavoisky made in the walls of our University fundamental scientific discovery - electronic paramagnetic resonance. At the Kazan University the Soviet state founder Vladimir Ulyanov-Lenin, writers Sergey Aksakov, Lev Tolstoy, Melnikov - Pechersky, the poet Velimir Khlebnikov, composer Balakirev and others have learned at different times. Today Kazan Federal University is a dynamic modern University actively participating in local and international cooperation, networking with academia and industry, boosting the region's human resources development as well as top-level research and innovation in different areas.
